Hallgrímskirkja Church, Iceland.
I spy…a space ship? A torpedo? No, it’s actually a church! It is one of the strangest churches in the world, at least on the exterior. Built 1945-86, it’s not an old building. For a country that’s famous for its natural wonders, the Hallgrímskirkja is one of the few iconic Icelandic buildings. It also sports an observation deck and a statue of Leif Eriksson, the man often credited as the first European to arrive in the Americas.
