Heidelberg, Germany

Alte Brücke, Heidelberg, Germany

As I visited Heidelberg long before I knew anything about taking pictures – or frankly cared about the fine art of photography – I have few photos worth sharing. My main photo of the castle is terrible quality, which is sad because the castle was pretty photogenic. This photo is almost halfway decent, and since Heidelberg is a place worth visiting, I’ll post it. This is the Alte Brücke, or the Old Bridge, on a rainy German morning.  Crossing the Neckar River, it is a beautiful stone bridge dating back to 1788. In fact, Heidelberg is a beautiful university town filled with students, bikes, and photogenic streets. Whether you want to visit an ancient castle, drink fine German beer or walk in the nearby dark and sombre woods, this city has it all.
