*NOTE* as you peruse this list, feel free to add suggestions!! Many of the places I’ve been, I went there solely because someone else told me to go. So, list your favourite place, a place you’ve always wanted to go, or your hometown, and who knows, maybe I’ll add it to the list and stop by one day!

Very well, that You have noticed Finland. Helsinki is the selection of regular visitor, but why not visit some unique places in Finland. Here are two of them:
Arctic Circle in Winter.
World’s Biggest Snow Castle.
Happy travel and blogging!
Hey thanks for the suggestions! I was hoping people would post suggestions. Yes, I almost went to Helsinki by ferry two months ago when I was in Tallinn but opted for a bike-ride along the Baltic Sea that was a more relaxing (and far cheaper…) option while travelling around several European countries for a month!
Impressive list! I notice the Lake District is on there – my home! Let me know if you’re coming over here and I’d be happy to recommend some places, both well-traversed and off the beaten track.
noordinaryblog.wordpress.com
I’ve gone past it on the train a few times coming/going from England to Scotland, but never actually made it there. I’d love suggestions though! I don’t know much about the Lake District besides the fact that it’s beautiful! I’m moving to France at the end of the summer and I plan on spending plenty of time in the UK again, seeing as it’s so close!
How exciting! Do you speak much French? If not, I guess you’ll pick it up really quickly living there.
It depends what season you’re planning to come over here, and how you’re planning to travel, but the Lake District is full of great places to visit. What sort of things are you interested in? History? Nature? Literature? Outdoor sports? Food?
Of course, there are a lot of spectacular walks you can do for free, ranging from the difficult full-day hikes up Helvellyn, to a casual stroll along the lake shore.
I’d recommend looking up some sort of ‘top ten in the Lake District’, to see the sort of thing that everybody does / sees here, then maybe doing a few of those, and mixing them with some less well-seen sights. You seem like quite an off-the-beaten-track person!
If you’re over in this direction, Shap Abbey is beautiful and not very well known (though it only takes between 30 minutes and an hour to look round, so only if you’re in that area anyway). Buttermere is beautiful, and far less busy than other lakes like Windermere, though there isn’t much to do on a rainy day. Grasmere is good for the literary stuff and for gingerbread.
If you want any more suggestions closer to the time, I’d be happy to oblige!
But as a warning: if you come in the height of summer, it will be heaving with tourists. The best time to come is a week or two before schools break up, or a week or two after they go back.
Also – thanks for following my blog! 🙂
May I suggest Meteora in Grrece as well? Google it, it’s really impressive! Nice blog by the way! 🙂
Thanks!! It does look very impressive…I put it on the list for when I finally make it to Greece!
I’d recommend Antwerp in Belgium – massive cathedral, lovely main square and loads of bars in which to sample the Belgian beers.
Can I ask what the interest is on coventry? I live there and think it’s a dump!
I’ve actually been looking at taking a trip to Belgium this fall…all depends on prices and schedules! As for Coventry…I tend to make my travel lists based on word-of-mouth and photographs I randomly come across by accidents. Somebody at sometime told me to go, so onto the list it went! I love the UK. I go there a lot. Chances are, whether it really is a dump or not, well, I’ll still probably end up there some day, for some reason or other…
When in Georgia, do not forget Kazbegi … your listed places are all out of the High Caucasus meanwhile Georgia offer great changes to see these magnificent mountains … I also would like to thank you for your magnificent blog!
Okay thanks for the suggestion!! It’s been added 🙂 I’ve never been to the Caucasus but I have a few friends who lived in Georgia (and one who is from Armenia)… the places here are per their suggestions 🙂
Very thorough list! I have been to some of the countries (and places) above. I was in Georgia recently but not in any of the places you mentioned 🙂 It is very beautiful and much different from mainland Europe. I would recommend you to go to Mestia or/and Kazbegi, if you make it there sometime soon.
